Hiatus Notice and Looking for a new Co-Web

I'm sorry, but Aesthetic Medley will be on Hiatus until further notice.

Deadline will be extended to November 25th.

I should have time to work on this site during Thanksgiving Break.

School is a killer, and my internet is retarded, and I am just plain tired.

Lena's gone, so unless I find a new co-web to help manage this site, things will be very slow for a while.

Sorry for being idle for so long.

School is a bummer, and I barely have time to think about my stories, or even update this site.

Even worse, Lena will be on a LONG Hiatus because of school.

I don't want to put this site on Hiatus, because the deadline is in a month, but I will say that things are going to be a little slow around here.

As for judges, because I am seriously going to need more help due to Lena's hiatus, I will be finishing up the grammar explanations and emailing them out to all judges who have attempted the quiz.

I checked Ambiguous Bliss too, and she cancelled again.

About the Judge Application

Okay. So, several quizzes have gone out, but no judges yet.

Is the quiz that hard? The thing is, I can tell whether a person's grammar is good just by reading his or her notes or comments.

But the quiz shows grammatical errors that are common in fanfictions that Lena and I have read before, so we thought that it was a good idea to check if the judges know it as well.

'Niii and BoBoLi0us have great grammar ;] I know them, I've read their stories...trust me.

I'm not trying to be extremely annoying and picky or anything, but I just want a judging staff that has the ability to help these authors with their errors.

This way, the overall quality of fanfictions will rise, yes?

I see authors on winglin apologizing all the time about their bad grammar, but all they need to do to fix it is ask for help!

So this whole quiz thing has a good intent kayz?

I'm guessing my comedy plots suck? XD

If you would like to apply to be a judge, then please read.

RAINxclouds and I (Lena/SweetButSour) have decided to change our minds. Instead of us reviewing your stories for grammar and vocabulary; we will be testing you with a quiz.

The method to receive the application is still similar. Just email us at Aesthetic.Medley@ymail.com and we will reply to you with the quiz. Do well because the minimum passing score is 75% from a total of 15 questions. Unfortunately if you get below a 75%, you will not be able to be a judge.

Also, please take a vote on whether we should add a lyrical section. The concept is to take a song, link, or any specific portion of the lyrics will be assigned to you. Take inspiration from the lyrics and make it into a story/oneshot. Leave your votes in the comment box/tag board. Tell us what you think ^_^

Ooooh....yeah...I was thinking about adding a Lyrical section for the challenge :D
Like...a song, link, and specific portion of the lyrics will be assigned, and you base a story on that.
^^

The only concern is having winglin spammed with AM Challenge accounts..XDD

So what I think I'll do, is once this round is over, I will create four [or five] accounts, (one for each category), put all entries in the cumulative accounts, and then you can delete yours.

Type: One-shot

Plot: A girl who owns a perfume shop meets a boy who comes to buy his girlfriend a Valentine's Day Present.

Starring: Choose from FT Island, SHINee, and 2PM for the lead male role. For the lead female role, choose from KARA, WG, and SNSD, or use a fictional character.

Notes: Be sure to add specifics. Don't make things move too fast.

Title: Crystal

Type: One-shot

Plot: After being separated for years, two young lovers meet again in the middle of Winter.

Starring: Choose from SHINee for the male role. Choose from KARA or SNSD for the female role.

Notes: Incorporate icicles somewhere in the one-shot. It's a short one-shot, but make it detailed and descriptive.

Title: Love is Online

Type: One-shot/Short Story

Plot: A girl and boy meets online by accident, and they fall in love. But the problem is, they live halfway across the world.

Starring: Your choice.

Notes: Give a good reason as to how they met by accident. Explain thoroughly.

COMEDY

Title: Elephant Ears

Type: Short Story

Plot: A boy is a baker and has a habit of eating most of the elephant ears as soon as it comes out of the oven in the morning. A girl who comes to apply for a job soon gets on his case.

Starring: Your choice.

Notes: Add a scene where the girl and boy end up exploding bags of flour in the kitchen. Let the cleverly funny story be the winner!

Title: Pitching Tents

Type: One-shot/Short Story

Plot: Two friends want to go camping, but neither have money to reserve a campsite. They do the only thing they can do and have a camp out in someone's backyard. With tents, smores, sleeping bags, etc.

Notes: Make sure to be clever about what kind of backyard they are camping out in!

Title: Painted Emotions

Type: One-shot/Short Story

Plot: A young daughter of an artist loves to paint, and one day, she paints a boy that she saw in her dreams.

Notes: The plot is vague. Creativity is needed for this plot.

Title: And Goodbye

Type: One-shot

Plot: A boy is saying goodbye to his lover.

Starring: Your choice.

Notes: Again, very vague. Here's a hint- Make sure you specify WHY the boy is saying goodbye. What happend to the girl?

Title: Like A Mockingbird

Type: One-shot/Short Story

Plot: A girl's boyfriend leaves, and she is left mimicking his last words to her for the rest of her life.

Starring: FT Island or SHINee and Any female celebrity or Fictional Character.

Notes: Use this line somewhere in your one-shot/short story. WORD FOR WORD.

"And like a broken record player, I was left repeating that same line. Copying exactly what he said, as a lonely mockingbird, echoing the words of the last song it will ever hear."

This is how the judging system works.

Step 1: After the deadline, all judges will receive the entries and will have 2 weeks to grade them for a score out of 100.

Step 2: Then, with the average score of these grades, the highest score will be determined.

Step 3: If there is a tie, then RAINxclouds and SweetButSour will be the ones to determine the winners.

Here is what you are graded for:

:RUBRIC:

Forewords: 5 points. A catchy hook is important, but not critical for a story.

Artwork: 2 points. VOID for poster challenges, but essential for others. It may be a poster from a request site. Not significant because this is a writing challenge.

Accuracy: 18 points. This is how well you made your writing fit the genre, and how well you followed our rules.

Interpretation/Creativity: 10 points. How well you interpreted the task, and how creatively you expressed it.

Plot & Character Development: 20 points. The way you developed the plot and the characters. Be descriptive and vivid in your words!

Grammar: 25 points. RAINxclouds and SweetButSour are huge grammar nerds. We will check for missplaced modifiers, illogical comparison, parallelism, spelling and vocabulary. If you have no idea what the heck we are talking about, type your story into Microsoft Word and use Spelling/Grammar Check before you turn it in.

Writing Style: 10 points. This is how well you phrase your words, sentence variation, language, etc. Try to refrain from being repetitive in your phrasing. EX: She said "blahblahblah". Then he said "blahblahblah".

Overall Enjoyment: 10 points. This is basically the icing on the cake. How much your story stuck to our minds and how fun it was to read.
